Styles should make this final a superb spectacle

The video footage below is only a prelude to be honest but it tries to illustrate the styles at play here. Ferreira’s work rate is her key asset.

The Brazilian continually puts her opponent under pressure, not allowing her opponent a chance to regroup. It was seen to full effect today as Potkonen simply had no answer to the onslaught from the slick Brazilian.

If you recall Potkonen, she was the boxer who defeated Katie Taylor in the Rio 2016 Olympics so the Finnish boxer has pedigree which makes the Ferreira display all the more impressive.

Kellie Harrington is such an astute boxer. Her work on the front foot is so good. We saw that in the semifinal bout today where the Thai boxer looked to pressurize only for Harrington to evade superbly and launch her own shot selection.

The reach advantage for Harrington could be a key asset for the Sunday final bout. The jab will be her friend as Ferreira looks to get on the inside and impress the judges.

It is all setup for a magnificent end of tournament women’s lightweight boxing gold medal bout. 50/50 fight and expect fireworks! The gold medal will go to the boxer who holds their nerve, executes the game plan. That is easier said than done. Roll on Sunday to find out!
