An interesting Saturday afternoon fixture list. Several 3pm fixtures. The traditionalists (including myself) love it and hopefully more of this as the league season concludes.
Liverpool continue to win with the minimum of fuss against teams who are at the wrong end of the table. Ipswich Town were not disgraced but the gulf in class in terms of tempo, passing range and finishing there for all to see.
Three well worked goals from Liverpool who had this goal closed out before the break. Gakpo continuing to have a standout season. Salah with another EPL milestone accomplishment. The late concession was a disappointment but the three points safely secured.
I cannot wait for the Bournemouth and Liverpool fixture. Both sides and their high press will create goalscoring opportunities. Nottingham Forest taken to the cleaners by a rampant Bournemouth performance.
5-0 was an accurate reflection of proceedings. Bournemouth the better side throughout. An early goal from Kluivert setup this win. Kluivert had an excellent game and Ouattara was the main beneficiary with a second half hat-trick.
The final third movement from Bournemouth is excellent and it will be interesting see if the Cherries can secure enough possession to test out Liverpool defensively next. Forest could not handle the pace and power today. Semenyo with a deserved fifth.
Nottingham Forest with a reality check. Seven goals leaked in two consecutive second half performances. Is the league season exertions catching up here? Nuno Espírito Santo will hope not but this was a worrying performance. The defensive unit under the pump today.
Someone else who will be under the pump will be Michael Oliver. A really poor red card award issued to Lewis-Skelly. If that is a red card, then we are going to have several players sent off. The youngster left the pitch in tears. A yellow card only.
Wolverhampton Wanderers failed to make their player advantage matter and they were walking the Oliver disciplinary tightrope in a feisty contest. Gomes already on a yellow card fouled one too many. Ten vs. ten and Arsenal secured the win.
Calafiori personally is a standout player. Yet another crisp, quality strike inside the box to score and secure a vital three points. Arsenal able to hold out (just about) as Raya denied Wolves attacks late from Cunha and Raya Ait-Nouri.
Wolverhampton Wanderers work rate was good but these games will not define their season. The final third needs improvement. Cunha performing well but others need to deliver.
Arsenal with a vital win to stave off those behind them and hoping for a Liverpool slip which at this time looks remote but maybe Bournemouth change the script next time out.
A great win for Everton against Brighton away. Moyes has won two out of his three EPL fixtures to date. Ndiaye penalty just before the break and Everton defensively on point too.
Everton moving away from the relegation zone which is bad news for Southampton who looked doomed. Isak plundered at will as Newcastle secured a 1-3 win over Southampton in the South Coast.
Moyes is a quality manager. It did not work out in Manchester United but his body of work deserves massive respect. West Ham United quick to dispatch him last season and look where they are now?
Moyes is a stable influence at the majority of clubs he has served. Everton will be no different. EPL season next term looks under control given this managerial appointment. The future can only be positive for the Toffees.
Brighton under Fabian Hürzeler personally have been found out. No alternative plan when required. One shot on target out of twelve attempts.
Final third issues now after a bright start and struggle to keep clean sheets. Brighton need to evolve. Is Fabian Hürzeler the man to do it? Time will tell but you can the tell that the jury is out from this blog post contributor.
