Opinion: Marmoush hat-trick, Schade opener as Bournemouth continue winning ways at Southampton

After the dramatic late loss to Real Madrid midweek, Newcastle United in good form was the last team that Manchester City wanted to face but this was an excellent performance from Pep Guardiola’s side.

Marmoush was the star man for Manchester City but this was an overall excellent team performance which should boost confidence ahead of City’s trip to Bernabeu.

Ederson, Gundogan and Savinho with the notable assists for Marmoush who claimed his first senior hat-trick. Haaland then with an assist for McAtee for a routine finish. Newcastle United well beaten.

West Ham United suffered a home loss to Brentford who have now won three aways in the EPL away from home for the first time. Schade with a smart finish on four minutes was enough to secure all three points.

Potter will be disappointed with the goal concession but must be happy with the chances created by the Hammers particularly in the second half. Evan Ferguson with a good effort denied by Mark Flekken.

Bournemouth continue to impress. The short trip to Southampton, local bragging rights on the line. You cannot fault Southampton for work rate but EPL ruthlessly exposes skill levels and pace. Bournemouth held all the aces.

Ryan Christie with a prominent performance. The Scottish international setting up Ouattara and then scored a second after good work from Kluivert. 0-2 at half-time.

Southampton did look to setup an interesting finale as Sulemana’s effort but Bournemouth with a decisive third goal soon after. Semenyo setting up Travernier for a third.

Bournemouth continue to soar this season in the EPL and look poised to launch a top four challenge. Southampton can start their EFL Championship squad preparations now, relegation a certainty.

Kudos to Ipswich Town. A key point on the road with ten players for the second half. Aston Villa will have an interesting video analysis session to understand why they failed to breakdown the visitors.

Delap and Watkins goals cancelled each other as Rashford secured game minutes for the Villains. Tuanzebe with an unhappy return to Villa Park with two quick yellow cards.

Southampton are gone. Leicester City showed resiliency until Merino’s late brace secured an Arsenal win. Ipswich Town out of the bottom three may be the team to get out of the relegation zone.
